Iceman served on staff at camp for five summers, 1989-1993. He served in the roles of counselor, Adventure Coordinator and Program Coordinator.

He went on to work at Centrifuge Camps for four summers while being a science teacher and attending
graduate school. He has served as full-time staff at SAMBICA Camp and Conference Center in Bellevue,
WA and also at Glorieta Conference Center in Glorieta, NM.

Currently, he is an ER nurse at Morgan Medical Center in Madison, GA.

​My name is Carolyn Clifton. I accepted Jesus to be my Savior and asked forgiveness of my sins when I
was 7 years old. I taught 3 rd or 4 th grade for 36 years. I am currently a part time math intervention teacher finishing my fourth year. I teach swimming lessons at the YMCA. My first experience with
camp was after 11 th grade when I was a volunteer sojourner for the Home Mission Board in Richmond,
VA. We taught campers about Jesus but also campcraft skills such as knot tying, compass, and firebuilding. The summer after 12 th grade I was assigned to a Baptist camp in California as the camp
lifeguard. The rest of the time, I worked in the kitchen and helped with campfire skits in the evenings. I
worked 3 more summers through college and after teaching one year. I was camp director for a day camp for FBC Alexandria, VA, the next summer a resident camp, and worked with Christian High Adventure leading backpacking trips the last of those summers. I have been a Red Cross volunteer for many years. I got involved with RAs when I moved to a new town and the boys at church were excited about RAs. I wanted to learn, so I could tell my home church in Thomasville and make the program better for my brother. I visited several weeks and attended a campout. The following school year, a leader told me that they missed me. I informed them I was just trying to learn but said those famous words….. I can come if you need me. A leader for the LADs was going to go back to college and they
did need me. The leader left for college that week . I have been in RAs since that time. I love Camp Kaleo and the times I have been there have been great. I would enjoy supporting the camp any way I can.

Flash served at Camp Kaleo from 1995 – 1996.  These were transformative summers that lead him to seek a Master’s of Education in Recreation Administration from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor’s of Science in Outdoor Education from Georgia College and State University.  He currently serves in the hospitality industry with a background in dining services, housekeeping, maintenance, programming and administration.  Flash encourages teams to develop themselves professionally while providing safe and impactful experiences to all guests.

Secretary

Wizard Kaleo served on staff for the summers of 2008-2012. He served in the roles of counselor, Adventure Coordinator, and Program Coordinator.

He currently works as a structural engineer in Sandy Springs, GA at a small firm that he’s been at for 10 years.

​

He looks forward to each summer when he can visit camp to meet the new staff and fellowship with them and other former staff alike.

Doc worked at camp from 1988-1991. He was unit leader 1988-1989 and PC 1990 and 1991. He has also assisted with staff training for 10+ years.

He lives in Cleveland, GA with his wife Christy, and they have four children.  He served in full time student ministry for 30 years and officially retired last year.

​

Camp has always held a special place in my life. It’s a place that I have seen God move in campers lives as well as my own.  The friendships I’ve made thru  camp have been such an important part of my life and I think it is such an amazing thing the way that there is an instant family connection with other staff, no matter the season worked.  Being a part of training so many different summers holds so many fond memories and cherished connections.  I’m excited about the future of Kaleo and hope to be a part of God calling forth more campers for His Kingdom.

Jason “Yabba” Strickland began his camp ministry journey at Camp Glynn in 1984, returning the following year and serving again during the transition summer of 1986.  Though he thought his camp summers were behind him, he answered the call to join the initial summer of Camp Kaleo in 1987.  His three years at Kaleo proved to be life-changing, shaping his faith, his calling, and the course of his life.

Jason went on to serve more than 20 years in church-based student and children’s ministry, attending over 35 weeks of camp as group leader during that time.  He later followed God’s leading into education, where he and his wife, Michelle, both serve as high school teachers in Cadiz, Kentucky.  Their son, Noah, lives nearby with his wife and children.  Jason and Michelle cherish every opportunity to pour into their grandsons, Oliver and Daniel.

Yabba loves camp.  He worked on various camp staffs for 12 summers.   Deeply grateful for the formative role camp has played in his life, he is excited to serve the Kaleo community as a member of the Friends of Kaleo Executive Board.

Rocko served at Kaleo from 1989-1993 in the roles of counselor, Unit Leader, and Adventure Coordinator. During this time, he sensed a call to vocational outdoor/camp ministry. 

After marrying Amy in 1994, he and Amy attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and served at Centrifuge Camps during those years. Upon graduation, he has served at Camp Highland, Wahsega 4-H Center, Ridgecrest Conference Center, and Pinnacle Retreat Center.

Rocko and Amy live in Old Fort, North Carolina, and Rocko is the Workplace Safety Supervisor for the Ridgecrest Foundation. 

Communications​​

Owl worked on staff from 2011-2012 as a Cabin Leader in Cabin 4 and Camp Store
Manager. Camp Kaleo is where he came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a
camper during Crusader camp.

Owl currently serves on staff at Hopewell Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA as the
Young Adult pastor. During his free time, he enjoys playing golf, traveling, and on
occasionally dabs in photography.

He is married to his wife Rachel and they have one son named Ezra and a daughter named Emmy. It is his prayer that
Camp will continue to be a place in which children and adults can experience the life
change of Jesus Christ.

Treasurer

Viper was a camper at Kaleo from 2002-2009, and served on staff from 2010-2013. He served in the roles of counselor (cabin 1), Camp Craft Coordinator, Unit Leader, and Program Coordinator.

He currently works as CFO & Co-owner of a residential construction company in Birmingham, AL where he lives with his wife Maggie, and three children.

He looks forward to the day when he can bring his children to camp along with the continued opportunities to visit camp each year.
